Wildwood

Evelyn Kirkaldy – Illustrator, Fine Artist and Wild Woman

Evelyn’s textured acrylic landscapes are created by mingling drips, dots and spatters; working quickly and without the limitations of a brush, she expresses light, colour and movement all at the same time. Mountain meadows, vivid flower gardens, lush rainforests and charismatic wildlife, are shaped solely by using painter’s stir sticks. A deep connection to the natural world and its wild creatures, especially bears, are fundamental to her being.

Travels along the spectacular British Columbia coast and 17 years living in the wilds of the Kootenays, have inspired her colourful artwork. It adorns homes throughout the world and has been shown in numerous BC and Alberta venues and galleries.

Evelyn has produced artwork with a multitude of styles and media – oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastel, pencils, pen and ink, brushes, and palette knives. She loves sharing her knowledge and has instructed both children and adults in many disciplines of art and design.

Evelyn’s work can be viewed at Artique Collective Gallery on Alberni Street and at her ‘Wild Images’ Studio/Gallery, 6046 Lund Street in the Wildwood area of Powell River. Call for an appointment 604 413-4059 or look for it at the top of the hill en route to Lund.
