Raised in Red Deer, Alberta, Lisa Hau received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary. A lover of food, travel, nature, and relationships, she approaches art as a central element of self-expression: “The most beautiful thing to me is genuine self-expression. It is ever-changing for each individual and will never go out of style.”
Painting has been an aspect of Lisa’s wellbeing for a long time. She first turned to art after a medical emergency in her late teen years. In the aftermath, she was astounded by the capacity of art to help her cope with both her physical and emotional recovery; creating paintings taught her how to face her inner dragons, and to become more patient, kind, and dedicated.
Lisa’s artistic process seek to liberate her from social expectations, using joyful colours, visual story-telling, and dynamic markings to suggest that we can each tell the story of who we are in a world that is both mysterious and open to change. Her pieces celebrate what it means to be alive and connected to the world around us.
