Bente Hansen’s journey as an artist began in childhood. Born in Copenhagen to an Architect father and creative mother she was fascinated with her father’s ability to quickly sketch a cartoon, a landscape or a building. Bente had an art teacher in Junior High that taught everything – drawing, painting, perspective, history and colour theory. Even painting abstractly. Bente went on to study painting and fibre arts at UBC for 4 years. After raising her family Bente has taken workshops both locally and internationally from artists whose work she admires. In 2014 Bente moved to Powell River. Now able to paint the environment that she lives in she is free to approach large canvases and experiment freely with techniques that convey nature’s mystery.
