Helena Pedersen was born and raised in Powell River BC, and has lived on the west coast of BC her entire life. After spending many years working and raising a family on Vancouver Island, she moved back home to Powell River. As a child she spent countless hours under the canopy of trees, the forest clearings and mountains, which is where she developed her strong attachment to nature. You can see her appreciation of her home reflected in the details of her work, whether watercolour, acrylic or oils….inspiring her line of “westcoastwildoriginal’s”. Her main focus is botanicals, wildlife and coastal landscapes. She aims to convey the tranquility and beauty found in the still moments that surround her on the Sunshine Coast.
She was formally trained at UVic and has honed her unique style after many years of practice since retiring, where she divides her time between the things that are the most important to her – painting, family and her garden.
