Joyce Furness

Since moving to Powell River in 2006 I have painted many watercolours of the local land and seascapes having a number of those images made into cards and prints. They are a record of qathet region and many of them have images of things that are no longer there and I think of those as having an historical aspect. My acrylics, many of which portray local scenes in the soft West Coast tones, can also be more experimental where I have fun playing with glazes and textures. The more recent still life paintings are alive with colour as I go in a new direction with bright, cheerful colours, texture, and design, some large, some small.

My work can be seen at ARTIQUE, the art cooperative on Alberni near Marine, the Tug-Guhm Gallery in Lund. Cards and magnets can be purchased at Paperwork Gift Gallery at the corner of Alberni and Marine
