25 | Donna Huber Studio

Westview

After graduating from Max Cameron school in Powell River, Donna applied for a spot at the Vancouver Art School in Vancouver and attended for two years. Both her mother and grandfather were artists, so this was an almost instinctive choice, and she enjoyed her time there. she quit, however, after seeing a collection of BC First Nation’s masks…suddenly she felt she had the mental tools to begin her own journey into creativity. The urge to express oneself comes from a common human understanding that we live short and dramatic lives in common. She understood that most of life is a puzzle. And the only door to understanding was via some kind of intuitive expression. Art was her choice. She has been producing images since the 70s and have been partners in a studio in Lund, B.C with her mother and now have a solo studio in Westview. Her work is influenced by many who came before, but she does channel as cleanly as possible from her own sensibilities. Donna adores Japanese printmaking and ceramics. People are welcome to visit her at the studio all year around, she is mostly home but call ahead to be sure.
